Physical Activities that Keep You in Shape

You must engage in a exercise program that will work on to build your stamina, strengthen your body parts and give you sufficient energy and endurance for the trip.
- Get some practice. Even though exercising will do you a lot of help, keep in mind that walking or jogging on flat pavement is a far cry from carrying a backpack over a rough and rocky trail. This is why, it is imperative that you are able to practice this activity before doing the real thing. To practice, walk around town with a backpack weighing five pounds heavier than what you actually intend to bring on the trip.
Backpacking 101
- Plan Carefully. Just as with any trip, hiking and backpacking requires extensive planning. You should be able to plan carefully your route, destination, camping site, equipment to bring, food to cook and many others. Be sure to inform friends and family about your plans and to leave with a map of your route so that in case you get lost, they would where to find you.
- Prepare your equipment. Veteran hikers and backpackers always emphasize on the importance of high quality equipment when it comes to outdoor activities such as these. So make sure you only bring with you high quality equipment such as Wenzel tents for example that ensure to keep you safe, sheltered and protected at all times.
For people who love outdoors, hiking and backpacking are some of the most worthwhile activities to undertake. Not only do these trips bring you a step closer to nature, they also enable you to relax and take a break from life’s everyday chaos.

I love to go camping in the mountains during my teenage days (when times were still relatively safe). Nowadays, watching the rising crime rates in the news makes me think twice (and thrice and more) to go camping with my family. Having fun could be synonymous to having trouble. If that made me sound paranoid, so be it. But camping on the grass in our backyard is fun enough :D
