Congratulations, you have finally decided to take a break from your overly busy and stressful life. Going on a camping trip can surely be a great way to relax, unwind, and forget all about the deadline notes that your boss keeps posting on your forehead. Not only is a camping vacation fun, it is also inexpensive and worthwhile. Best of all, it allows you to enjoy nature’s wondrous gifts at a close range.

So, where do you begin? With the usual stuff, of course—planning, preparation, and packing the camping gear such as tents and Coleman lantern among many others. Once you are done with all that, you have to consider other things as well like choosing an awesome campsite that would provide you with the perfect ambience for your camping vacation.

Here are some practical tips on how to do just that.

Your options

Check out your options, which include local state parks, campgrounds, national forests, local city or county lakeside, local beaches, and so on. If you do not want to go local, you can always drive a few miles to another state to find wonderful places to pitch your tent. It would be a good idea to ask recommendations from family and friends who have gone camping before or to research online about excellent campsites.

Accessibility

After you have chosen where to camp, you have to choose a spot where you would pitch your camp tent.

Make sure that the spot is accessible either through driving or foot trail. This is to ensure that you and your camping buddies would not have a difficult time locating the campsite.

Spectacular view

One of the best things about this type of trip is that you get to bask in the glorious beauty of the environment. But that will not happen if you do not choose the proper spot that offers scenic views of the place. Imagine waking up and finding yourself surrounded with nature’s beauty, now that is a real vacation. Otherwise, a boring spot with no good views would just make the trip dull and ordinary.

Water

The camping spot you choose should have an accessible source of clean water nearby, may it be a stream, river, or lake. BUT do not camp near a stagnant body of water, as this is a breeding ground for mosquitoes and all sorts of harmful insects and creatures. If there is no clean water source anywhere, it is okay as long as you have brought purification tablets or water filtering system to make water clean enough to drink.

Uncharted areas

Do not go into “uncharted areas” or locations with no established camping spot. Not only are you disturbing nature by doing this, you are also putting yourself at risk of common environmental dangers.

Flat and even

Unless, you want to roll down a hillside or sleep with painful stones sticking into your back, see to it that you pitch tents for camping on a flat and even ground. Clear the area of rocks, stones, and twigs so you can have a peaceful slumber.
