Camping trips with family and friends are often memorable experiences that we want to immoratalize and cherish forever. If only we can imprint the scenes of smiles and heartfelt laughter or permanently record every single precious moment we spent during the trips in our minds, we would. Too bad, our brain can only hold so much information.

This is why aside from bringing the important pieces of Camping Gear such as tents, sleeping bags and lanterns, it is imperative that you don't forget to bring camp journal and a camera to capture priceless moments that you'll remember the camping trip by.

Camp Journaling Tips

But making a journal and taking photos are not as easy as you think they are. So here are some tips on capturing photos and creating a journal that will keep your camping memories alive.

1. A journal will contain all your thoughts about the trip such as description of events, food you ate, activities you did and the feelings and emotions you felt during the trip. It's therefore important that you choose a durable and waterproof journal to make sure it last a long time.

2. Choose a journal that is compact and easy to bring so it won't take up a lot of your space in your backpack.

3. Tuck in actual souvenirs such as dried flowers or leaves to include on your journal. Don't take souvenirs that will harm nature like the young of birds.

4. Feel free to sketch or draw anything on your journal. Remember, words are not the only things you can put into it.

5. A journal is also a good way to make note of important information like campsite location, contact numbers, hiking trails, schedules of activities, and so on. It's also important that you log in your personal contact information such as name, phone numbers, address and persons to call during an emergency.

6. If you don't feel like bringing your journal everywhere you go, what you can do is to have small pieces of paper and a pen on your pocket so that anytime a wonderful thought or idea strikes you, you can easily jot it down and transfer later to your journal.

Camp Photography Tips

1. Be a trigger happy. Especially if your camera is digital and you have endless memorey space, don't hesitate to click on and on. After all, you're not going to waste anything since you can just easily delete a blurred photo or a photo gone wrong.

2. Capture candid moments. Take that photo of your kid as his eyes open wide at the sight of a weird looking insect or capture that moment when your camping buddies are squealing with laughter. Scenes such as these are truly worth stealing. They are more valuabe than those photos where everybody smiles and poses.

3. Take photos of the sunset. It's important to note that the best time to take sunset photos is when the sun is just about to touch the horizon. It is a nice touch to add a person on the foreground who'll appear in silhouette to give depth and character to your shot.

4. Take photos even at night or at dusk. To completely cover your whole camping trip, it's necessary not to take only the day pictures. The best time to shoot dusk sots are 15-50 minutes after sunsets when the sky is still a mix of different colors like purple, orange, yellow and red. It's recommended to use a tripod. If you're using a manual camera, try using the B setting and take several shots with 2 to 16 seconds.

5. Don;t let bad weather ruin your photos. If it's cloudy, use a C filter to warm up the scene or use blaks and white fild to emphasize the gray tones. Don't fail to cover your camera to keep it from getting wet.

6. Take photos of the nature such as animals and the flora and fauna. There are many fascinating creatures and plants that make interesting photo subjects. You don't need to be a National Geographic photographer to take interesting photos. Just be careful so you won't disturb the natural habitat and life of plants and animals.

Your priceless photos and journal are indeed concrete reminders of an unforgettable camping experience. Get ready, pack the family's Camping Gear and let the adventure begins!
