Ensure that you have enough food and water

Sufficient supply of food and water is one of the first things that you have to think about for your extended camping trip. As you know, these are your basic necessities that will keep you healthy and energized. Shortage of food and water will compromise your health, make you weak, and increase risks of ailments.

It is imperative that you choose a camping site that provides a steady supply of clean drinking water. Because if not, it would be too much of a hassle to bring water gallons enough to last for a week. You also have the option to bring purification system to make water available in the campsite safe for drinking. Apart from that, it would be smart to bring sports drinks that are high in electrolytes to prevent dehydration.

As for the food, you need to stock sufficient amount of non-perishable items that will keep you full and healthy all throughout your trip. Bring plenty of instant food that you can cook using hot water and pack a lot of energy bars, trail mixes, granola bars, and sandwiches to keep your energy levels high.

Keep yourself comfortable

Bringing ample clothing is one way to keep yourself comfortable. While you don’t have to bring too many pieces of clothing, it would be smart to bring a biodegradable soap that you can use to wash dirty clothes and a rope that you can tie on the poles of your tent to serve as a clothesline.

Apart from that, keep the campsite clean and orderly. The sleeping provisions would be more comfy if you bring air mats. Air mattresses for camping are not necessary for short trips. But for longer ones like this, it would be practical to include them in your list of things to bring. Remember, this will be your home away from home for about a week so you need to make your campsite as comfortable as possible.

Bring extra camping gear

Since you will be staying more than a day, you might need to bring extra camping gear like spare batteries for lanterns, flashlights, and air pumps, tarps and plastic for weatherproofing, more trash bags, extra duct tapes, more matches, and so on.

Get enough rest

Since you will be staying at the camp for a longer time, you don’t have to rush into doing every activity you can think of. Be sure to schedule the activities at the right pace so you would still have something left to do for the other days of the trip. If you do everything in one day, you’ll end up getting bored at the coming days.

An extended camping trip will allow you to enjoy the vacation longer. Just make sure that you do everything it takes for you to have a safe, fun, and comfortable extended camping trip.
