What do you long for when you are on a camping trip that you only find in your home? Camping supply? Of course you have it. Or a 2 person tent you wish you have solely for your own purpose? Maybe?
The way it goes
Take it this way. When you go on a camping trip, you look forward to the outdoors, the excitement of seeing new things, being there in the midst of nature savoring the scent of the forests breeze, basking in the sunshine. You hear those hums and shrills of birds and nocturnal cries of birds and insects who have the wilds as their habitat, undisturbed and untouched (?) by civilization.
When you go to sleep at night, you crawl into your tent, slip into your sleeping bag and try to fall asleep.
After a few days, you start removing your tent, fold it up and pack everything and start your trek back, looking forward to be home at last. Reaching home, you place your backpack in a corner of your room, and then you slump on your bed. You have that comfortable feeling of being home.
Yes it is the comfort of the home. But you cannot have it for sure when you are on a camping trip. But of course, you can do something to make it a little bit comfortable when it comes to what you are going to bring and the tent that you will use.
Camping supply – must-haves
You know that you will be out for two or more days. There are things you have to bring, those basic necessities and others that will help you during your stay in the camping ground, and avoid being miserable in a camping trip which is supposed to be enjoyable. You have to have the items that will help you “survive” during the length of days you are suppose to stay in the camp.
So what are you going to bring for your camping supply to last you the number of days you are to be out there? Here is a general list of items you have to consider bringing along. This should be balanced by the mode of travel you are going to take.
Since you going with another member of the family, most likely you spouse, the likelihood of going by car is great. Therefore, the quantity of camping supply that you can bring is only limited by the capacity of the car you are going to use. So here they are:
- Food and water. Canned food items are best because they do not spoil. Oftentimes however, it will be necessary to heat your food a little, so you have to bring a camping stove with enough fuel to last the whole trip.
Also water for drinking is a must. Not only that, you also need water for washing your face, hands and others. If flowing water is available in the camp site (this you can check before going, if you do not know) you have to bring at least water purification tablets. This will always come in handy especially when you go on hiking for example and you find some spring or sources of water you are not sure if they are clean or not.
You can also opt to bring with you a water bottle with built-in purification system. You fill it with water and take the water out to drink. It’s just that simple. You can be sure the water is safe and there is no unwholesome taste. For as long as there is water to place there, you will always have safe drinking water.
- Kitchen and dining utensils. Since at least heating your food cannot be avoided and you will have a stove, pans, kettles and other cooking utensils. You should also have plates, forks and spoons, and drinking tumblers.
- First aid kit and emergency medicine. First aid kits for use of campers can be for a single individual or for the family. They are available in camping stores. Do not forget the insect repellants and of course your or your spouse’s medicine if on medication for certain illness.
- Extra batteries, fuel for the stove. You need extra batteries for your flashlight, for your walkie-talkie if you are bringing them, and for you mobile phone to last you during your stay there in camp. You must also bring along extra fuel for your stove.
- Your personal care like soap, tooth paste, and others.
- Some handy tools and gadgets aside from knives for kitchen and for jungle use; compass, and maps as you deem necessary in going to and in the campground. Wait, also your camera.
- You sleeping bags or mattress, chairs, tables, heaters, and coolers.
- Your tent. If there are only two, your tent should be fable to accommodate your camping gears also. You should consider bringing a ground tarp to support your tent floor and an extra tarp to serve as a roofing over your tent so that in case it rains, your tent, which is not water proof will not be drenched with rain water.
Your Tent
Of Course, the most important item you should bring along is your tent, but it must be of the right size and make.
Manufacturers recommend 2 person tents for a pair of individuals. However, they always underestimate the amount of space needed by a single individual when in the tent. They forget about the camping gears that will have to be placed inside the tent instead of being exposed to the elements outside. Usually each person needs 3 feet by 7 feet to stretch out, some more space to dress and to stack your other gears. Therefore, you should consider instead a 3 person tent for the additional space you need.
2 person tents are usually ideal for one person only. Therefore, if you are considering buying one, think about 2 person tents as suited for one person only.
So You are about ready to go
You now have a complete camping supply list and you already have all the items you have listed there. You have your 3 person tent instead of one of those recommended 2 person tents. You now are ready for take off. You know you will now be comfortable in your tent.
Enjoy your camping.
